Sick and happy kind of randomness.

Wha? Yep. I’m sick and happy. Sick because I caught a cold, that I really wasn’t trying to catch, and I now sound like Kathleen Turner playing Chandler Bing’s father. Shex-shay. Not!

Happy because Billdaho has been a building ho and working hard fixing up the bathroom. Y’all! The tub is in. *does a little jig* And, and… I have some drywall! Yeah baby! Wanna see?

Progress people, we have progress! I’m so happy about that. And Alex was a big help putting the sheet rock up on on the ceiling. Teenage boys are good for something. LOL! No, he really is a pretty good kid. I’m actually quite pleased that he remembered I told him to be home to help yesterday. I thought I might have to hunt him down to remind him. Nope. He remembered on all his own and showed up just in time to haul the drywall off the truck.

I’m also happy that the Wings have pulled out yet another win and are now up three games to none on the Stars. Go Wings! Due to a dose of Nyquil, I almost didn’t see the end of last night’s game, including Datsyuk’s hat trick.

More happiness comes from spending Mother’s Day in a great way… lazy. Billdaho and I shared a pot of coffee while watching a chick flick, Jane Eyre, poor guy, and talking. Then he went to his mom’s (and snuck out to buy me flowers) while I went to mine. We met back up at my house and went out to lunch, sort of with my family. This was a last minute thing and did it show. We didn’t all sit together, we were spread out at different tables across the restaurant. LOL! Eh. It all worked out, and afterwards we all went to my cousin’s house to visit. It was just a nice, laid-back, relaxing day.

Hope all you mom’s had as nice a day as I did.

Time for a breather.

Categories: I need a timeout

So obviously my life has been a little hectic lately. Or at least it seems. I never did finish up my Vegas vacation posts and who knows if I’ll even manage to get to it now?

Plus, I have been a bad blogger and haven’t been getting round to read all those that I used to and I’m sorry. I’ve got to say, though, it sure was a lot easier when I could sit on my bed or the couch and surf. I hope to change that soon, but I have to get a new wireless router first. Then again, maybe I’ll just hold off buying my own and wait until it is time to use Billdaho’s. ;)

In addition to the craziness of splitting a household and getting back on the home improvement track, I had Alex’s friend, Brandon, staying at my house for a bit. I’m not entirely sure of the whole story, but apparently his dad kicked him out… again. Then I heard he changed his mind as soon as B said he was going to go live with his mom.

It’s sometimes a power struggle when parents are divorced. Ok, I take that back, it’s almost always a power struggle. You know, if you couldn’t get along married, just how do you expect to get along divorced?

Anyhow, Brandon is gone to his mom’s now, but I highly doubt that is the last of that situation. I fully expect to see him again in the not too distant future.

But now that all that craziness seems to be gone, it’s time to slow it down. Don’t get me wrong, I love the new atmosphere; I’m just a bit tired of having so much going on night after night after… you get the picture.

So tonight I’m going to take a breather. If all works out, I see a walk, a nice dinner, a trip out to see my parents for a bit and a (hopefully) winning Red Wings hockey game all in the cards for this evening.

Sound good? Yeah, I thought so, too.

Sometimes you just know…

…when what you have is exactly what you need.

I pulled back the covers Monday night to climb into bed and found that Billdaho had left me a little goodnight message. It caught me completely off-guard.

And yeah, you know me, I had to take a picture so I could share it.

Everyone say it with me now… Awwwwww.

So did I tell y’all?

This year is my 20th high school reunion. Yep. Twentieth! How the heck did that happen? I don’t feel 20 years older than the day I graduated.

Mostly.

Ok, ok, so maybe I do. You know, sometimes. Like when it rains and my old roller skating injury acts up. Or when I’m napping on the couch on a Sunday afternoon. Or when I find myself uttering phrases made famous by my mother such as, “Don’t cut off your nose to spite your face.”

Sadly, all of these things have happened in the last week.

Umm, anyhow.

Yeah, my 20th reunion is taking place this July. Not only am I going, I also paid $70 for dinner, a class photo and dancing to music by a local band that is actually pretty darn good. I hope it ends up being worth the money.

Now I have to go dig out old photos, scan and send them off to the classmate who is coordinating this shindig for the “Remember When” slide show.

This gloomy Friday can’t kill my good mood.

It’s cold, windy, gloomy, drizzly and gray outside, but the sun is shining around me today. Why? I’m not sure. My job still sucks ass some days, but the rest of my life seems to be falling into place. I can honestly say I am happier now than I have been in years. And with each passing day, each moment, I am more and more sure I have done what I needed to.

Not only am I happier, but my kids are too. Alex has actually chosen to be at the house, rather than being gone from right after school until right before bedtime. It truly is a tremendous difference in the household and as hard as it was, I would do it all over again in a heartbeat. Even my parents noticed and commented on the change in the atmosphere.

Other than that, I only have a few quick blurbs to talk about today, so here goes:

  • The Wings put away the Av’s four games to none last night in the second round of the playoffs. Yay! Sorry Sports Mama. They’ll be meeting either the Dallas Stars or the San Jose Sharks in the next round.
  • I bought a TV last night just so I could watch said hockey game in bed (damn late games!). My arms hurt from hefting it up onto my armoire, but it was so worth it even though I fell asleep somewhere during the second period. LOL!
  • I’m not a big Ashton Kutcher fan (because he’ll always be that dumbass Kelso to me), but I think his new movie, What Happens in Vegas, looks like it might actually be laugh-worthy.
  • After 13 days of being down, our elevator at work is back up and running. Thank goodness! I was getting tired of fielding numerous phone calls each day where the person on the other end did nothing but bitch me out.

And finally today, it’s time for my Friday Party song. Though I’m in a good mood, Disturbed’s Prayer is talking to me today.

Happy Friday, everyone!

Do I owe!

Hmm. I wonder what the current exchange rate in puppies is for making a 6′3″ guy wiggle himself into a crawl space to sweat new copper water lines?

I think the smile he had on his face throughout the evening doesn’t bode well for me. I owe. And boy, do I owe!

LMFAO!

Ahh, warmth!

Well, my bathroom is finally insulated. Everywhere except where the old sink and medicine cabinet are, but that will be done as soon as they are ripped out. I can’t tell you how big a difference it made in the temperature of my bathroom to go from nothing but exterior siding to insulated walls. It would have been damn nice to have had that done when it was below zero this past winter.

Oh, and the insulating process took all of about 20 minutes, if that. Sa-weet!

We also managed to get the dog crap that littered the back yard picked up. Two grocery bags full. Two. Never let it be said that my dog is NOT a prolific shitter. LOL!

And I made a pan of excellent lasagna and had my parents come over for dinner. Mom cleaned her plate and Dad had seconds. The company and the conversation was excellent. Billdaho and my dad had plenty to talk about, and, of course, my parents made sure to share several embarrassing childhood stories of me. One of the stories even made Sam spit root beer out his nose… and MOM was telling that one.

Anyway, hope everyone else had a productive/great weekend. Mine was spectacular and I could use a lifetime more of them.
